Cutting data preparation time for target evaluation by over 50% with DISQOVER

Target assessment evaluates whether a biological target is relevant, druggable, and capable of producing a therapeutic effect with minimal side effects. It ensures that identified targets have strong scientific and clinical validation, reducing the risk of failure in later drug development stages. 

Many companies face challenges in target assessment due to limited access to high-quality, disease-relevant data. Missing or incorrect data can lead to inaccurate predictions about a target’s effectiveness and safety. Additionally, integrating and interpreting diverse datasets to complete target assessment reports remains complex, often resulting in gaps that hinder confident decision-making. 

For our customer, drug target assessment traditionally involved manual data handling and disjointed workflows, creating bottlenecks in the early discovery process. Recognizing these inefficiencies, a project was launched to develop a unified framework for FAIR-compliant data lakes. A specific FAIR data lake was created for target assessment applications to address challenges in target evaluation, such as fragmented datasets and the need for streamlined collaboration.  

The outcome 

With DISQOVER at the foundation of our customer’s data lake for target assessment, researchers now efficiently access, interpret, and utilize target data, paving the way for more effective target assessment.
