Release Notes DISQOVER 6.02
This document contains the release notes of the DISQOVER version 6.02 and instructions to upgrade. Please make sure you have read these before updating or installing this new release.

Superior UI/UX is key to DISQOVER. We aim to provide a general-purpose tool with an expert layer that is attractive, engaging and interactive, with results in near-real time. A continuously improving user interface and more intuitive data integration further contribute to a seamless user experience and a growing number of applicable use cases.
By enabling interactive search, links & visual analytics DISQOVER facilitates interactive data journeys that rely on semantic and linked data concepts while shielding the user from complexity. Views and navigational journeys are highly customizable to the end user’s expectations and use cases. With the self-service customization functionality embedded in the UI, users can prepare views for their peers.
We envision DISQOVER not as a standalone tool, but rather as a part of a customer’s solutions ecosystem. The plugin architecture offers customers the possibility to extend the product with custom functionality, possibly integrating with 3rd-party tools.
To allow users flexible integration with proprietary data, DISQOVER offers a comprehensive integrated and linked data set for high-quality public data integration. With a data ingestion pipeline, we enable self-service data ingestion with provenance attribution, focus on advanced QC and the possibility of multi-tiered data architecture.
NEW FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENTS:
In this minor release of the 6.xx series of DISQOVER, we focused on the look, feel and search capabilities of the platform, taking yet another step towards a better user experience. The most prominent features and improvements are:
- new features and improved user friendliness of the search page and dashboard layout and configuration;
- clearer visualization of semantic hits on a search page;
- improved useability of dashboard template selection and template configuration;
- new dashboard widgets:
– property-specific searching, and;
– visualization of instances in a table representation with searchable and sortable columns.
- Improvements added to the configuration of the DIE (data ingestion engine).
2.1. New features and improved user friendliness of the search page, dashboard lay-out and configuration
New possibilities are available for the configuration of a search dashboard layout. The dashboard layout can now contain images and video links to visually support the description of use-case-specific search links. The icon of an ‘Open template’ button is now configurable. The configuration of properties in instance list layouts can now be created via drag and drop. There’s a reintroduction of a breadcrumb view to see the search terms used and the navigation path. Next to the breadcrumbs, there’s a clear representation of all active filters and the ability to clear a single filter option.
Semantic search is one of the key features of DISQOVER searches. The visualization of search results has been restyled and allows the user to directly follow the link to semantic hit only results (Fig 1).
This new widget can be added to a dashboard to allow powerful in-depth searching within specific properties. Using the easily configurable widget, you can also use Boolean logic to create search combinations (Fig 2).

This new widget is an addition to the existing instance list widget and allows the user to create dashboards with a well-ordered representation of multiple properties of instances (Fig 3). The layout of this table widget is highly customizable and is similar to a spreadsheet. In addition, the table columns are searchable and sortable after rerunning indexing once. Currently, properties are sortable and label sorting will be included in a future release.

2.5. Dashboard template selection and configuration
Selecting or switching dashboard templates is easier via a button on a dashboard page. The button contains the label of the currently active template, enabling the user to clearly recognize which template is in use.
2.6. Improvements added to configure the DIE
A number of improvements have been added to the data ingestion engine (DIE) to allow more flexibility in data configuration. Now, it’s possible to completely exclude a canonical type while configuring data federation. This allows the user to easily hand pick the canonical types of interest in a local DISQOVER setup. Secondly, a scanning tool has been added to improve the oversight of what will be included while configuring a remote data subscription (RDS). Finally, more fine-grained control enables the configuration of shorter update intervals when scheduling automatic data ingestion runs.
3. Upgrade Instructions
Upgrading DISQOVER from version 6.01 to version 6.02 can be achieved by updating the disqover-installer package through yum or apt and running the disqover-update command.
To upgrade from an earlier version, you potentially need to run additional commands or to upgrade first to version 5.20.x. DISQOVER deployments configured with an external PostgreSQL host or with custom Docker containers, are required to follow additional guidelines.
